Review of Kitchen and Bath Trend Rooms from KBIS 2008.

By Kim Barrington
The Kimbro Agency

If you read my post on the Meredith Corporations trend rooms for the National Kitchen and Bath Show, then you also saw images from these rooms corresponding to the stages women go through during the course of their lifetime.

To clarify my own thoughts on the Idea Center, while these may not be the most exotic kitchens or even contemporary kitchens, say for instance like what Trendir features in their online publication, for what is happening in most of America I think Meredith Corporation and their designers and trade publication editors got it right….for the most part this is the way Americans do live and they do experience each one of these stages. GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE NKBA ENDORSED PROGRAMS INTERNSHIP

The NKBA Endorsed Programs was developed to help provide consistent, quality education for students who desire to become kitchen/bathroom design professionals. Educational institutions all over the country offer kitchen/bath curriculums supported by NKBA.

Students who participate in an NKBA-endorsed curriculum:

  • perform classwork based on NKBA's Professional Resource Library
  • complete a planned internship of at least 160 hours in the kitchen and/or bath industry.

The internship, generally taken just before or during the final year of classroom work, provides important "real-world experience," and enhances and extends classroom learning.

With preparation through classroom and internship experiences, a student who completes an NKBA-endorsed curriculum should have the competencies considered to be the foundation for practice as a kitchen/bathroom designer. Graduates from a curriculum endorsed by NKBA also have advanced status toward AKBD/CKD/CBD certification. knowledgeable intern.
